Lan Banned from Directing at the Young Vic???Date: 23 May 2007Young Vic artistic director David Lan today (23 May 2007) told journalists that he would never again hire the director responsible for this year’s critical flop The Soldiers' Fortune. Of course, that would leave Lan out of the job – he himself directed Thomas Otway’s 1680 Restoration comedy that failed to excite critics and attract audiences during its February to March run – so journalists laughed off his comment before tucking into a PR-provided breakfast of chocolate croissants and fresh fruit. Lan also told enquiring media that he hoped Rufus Norris’ staging of Tintin, which commences a 17-week tour of the UK this summer, would soon land in the West End (See Today's News). “It’s touch-wood for now,” Lan said. “I will be very happy with just a successful tour, but hopefully afterwards it will find the right theatre at the right time.” Related Content |
