Ian Watkins, aka ‘H’ from former pop group Steps, has enjoyed flexing his acting muscles playing drama student Nick Piazza in the new West End run of
Fame at the Shaftesbury Theatre (See
WOS TV, 9 May 2007). And scenes in which his character rehearses
Romeo and Juliet with co-star
Natalie Casey has whet his appetite not only to branch out of musical theatre but also to try his hand at Shakespeare. “I would love to do that!” he told Whatsonstage.com. “My ideal character that I would love to do is Puck in
A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I’m a little old now for Lysander (one of the young lovers from the same play) which is what my previous dream was, but who knows?” Who knows indeed? RSC casting directors take note… We wish the amiable H good luck!
