Joseph Donovan Revisits Technicolor as Pharaoh???
Date: 8 May 2007
While Saturday night reality TV show
Any Dream Will Do is focused on finding a new star to play the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s upcoming West End revival of
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, casting for the show's other parts could prove just as interesting. We hear that one-time Joseph
Jason Donovan is in the frame to quiff up as Pharoah in Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Biblical family musical. The Australian pop and soap star took the title role in the late
Steven Pimlott’s production of
Joseph in 1991 at the start of its original record-breaking run at the London Palladium. Since then, Donovan’s musical credits have included
The Rocky Horror Show, Sweeney Todd and
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (also at the Palladium). The new staging of Pimlott’s production opens on 15 July 2007 (previews from 6 July) at the West End’s Adelphi Theatre (See
News, 5 Apr 2007).
