Take That Take Gloves Off for Never Round 2??? Date: 30 March 2007
Nineties boy band Take That have already said they are “furious” about Never Forget, the new musical featuring the band’s songs, which opens in Cardiff in July as part of a five-date pre-West End regional tour (See The Goss, 15 Mar 2007). But now the re-grouped band is reportedly speaking to lawyers about preventing the musical opening in the West End. According to the Daily Mail, they are “looking at the contracts that were signed with the producers”. Written by Danny Brocklehurst (whose TV credits include Shameless and Clocking Off), Never Forget centres on the members of the unlikeliest Take That tribute band and follows the rollercoaster journey of young hero Ash and his best mates in the pursuit of their dreams. Along the way each of them discovers that pretending to be someone else can sometimes help you find out who you really are. It includes Take That chart-toppers “Relight My Fire”, “Pray”, “Back for Good”, “Babe” and the title number “Never Forget”. The show’s producer, Tristan Baker, told the Mail “once all concerned have seen the show, everyone will be happy”. Never Forget will be directed by Ed Curtis and choreographed by Karen Bruce, with Mike Dixon as musical supervisor.
