HP Gets Saucy Over 1,075 Years of Spamalot???Date: 13 March 2007 Never one to miss a foodie trick, the producers of Spamalot have teamed up with the makers of HP Sauce to celebrate the self-proclaimed “first 1075 years” of the Monty Python musical, which in fact had its UK premiere at the Palace Theatre just five months ago (See 1st Night Photos, 18 Oct 2006). The 1,075 limited edition HP Spamalot Sauce bottles went on sale this weekend in Selfridges’ Oxford Street store. The bottles feature a unique design inspired by the hit West End show and are presented in a blue collector’s box with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The special bottles of the brown stuff retail at £6.99 with all proceeds donated to Tommy’s, the baby charity. Ahead of Spamalot’s West End opening, special editions of Spam, the processed meat from which the musical derives its name, were also released (See The Goss, 6 Sep 2006).
