Denise Van Outen Makes Any Dream Come True???Date: 12 March 2007And, on the subject of Andrew Lloyd Webber projects, we hear things are progressing well with Any Dream Will Do, the reality TV follow-up to How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? which will find an undiscovered male star for a new production of Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, based on the biblical story of Jacob's son Joseph and his 11 brothers (See News, 21 Dec 2006). Lloyd Webber and BBC One, which will air the programme this summer ahead of the family musical’s West End revival, have assembled a fresh panel of judges which includes TV presenter-turned-West End actress Denise Van Outen (who starred in Lloyd Webber’s 2003 production of Tell Me on a Sunday) and producer Bill Kenwright (who directed and presented the last West End outing of Joseph in 2003 and continues to tour the show extensively) in addition to West End-Doctor Who star and Maria veteran John Barrowman. No venue or dates have yet been announced for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat though it’s expected to move into the Adelphi Theatre, which will go dark after the closure of Michael Grandage’s revival of Lloyd Webber’s Evita at the end of May (See News, 28 Feb 2007). Joseph started as a school musical in 1968 and was then expanded into a full-length stage show, which premiered on Broadway in 1982 and has previously been mounted in the West End at the London Palladium and the New London.
