Celebrity BB’s Shilpa Is Next Roxie???Date: 23 February 2007 According to newspaper reports, Celebrity Big Brother winner, and racial abuse victim, Shilpa Shetty is in talks to make her West End debut playing Roxie Hart in Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. The slight drawback – as viewers of the Channel 4 reality TV show will know – is that Shetty can’t sing. While she’s appeared in countless Bollywood screen musicals, and has proven her dance skills in them, she merely lip-synched the lyrics to the songs. She’s reportedly been taking singing lessons in preparation for the real thing. Good story, but we’ll see. A Chicago spokesperson said there was no truth in the Shetty rumour, though they will be announcing a new Roxie soon. The show’s current star wattage is being supplied by former Spandau Ballet former lead singer Tony Hadley, who’s currently appearing as Billy Flynn in his stage acting debut.
