Maria? Most Entertaining TV Moment???Date: 29 January 2007 And speaking of Lloyd Webber, his televised hunt for the star of The Sound of Music, How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, was awarded Best Entertainment Programme at this year’s Broadcast Awards, which were announced last week at a ceremony attended by more than 1,300 of UK television’s most influential people at Grosvenor House in central London. The series, which attracted more than 8 million viewers at its peak and made eventual winner and Whatsonstage.com Award nominee Connie Fisher a household name, beat Derren Brown: the Heist, The Apprentice, Celebrity Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing to the accolade. All of which bodes well for Lloyd Webber’s next project, Any Dream Will Do, casting the star of a new production of his earliest musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat via reality TV – although his BBC1 show might face tough competition from his Maria? co-producer David Ian and Pop Idol judge Simon Cowell’s ITV1 search for the stars of Grease (See News, 21 Dec 2006).
