Statesman’s Mayall Lost for Words???Date: 18 January 2007Rik Mayall – who, catching a bout of laryngitis, missed two performances of political satire The New Statesman at the West End’s Trafalgar Studios last week - had to leave the stage mid-way through Tuesday night’s performance. A spokesperson for the production told Whatsonstage.com: “He is suffering from exhaustion at the moment after having laryngitis last week. He only went off for five minutes at the end and came back for the curtain call, but I think it was a case of him coming back to work too early after having been ill.” The New Statesman limited West End season finishes on 27 January.
