Gately Seeks Green Light for Wicked???Date: 16 January 2007 Stephen Gately, who was previously tipped to play Boq in Broadway musical Wicked when it transferred to the West End’s Apollo theatre, wants to be in the show now more than ever after seeing Kerry Ellis’ opening night performance last week (See WOS TV, 15 Jan 2007). Former Boyzone band member Gately - who has appeared in the West End in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - told Whatsonstage.com that he’s seen the show many times both in London and New York, and has previously auditioned for Boq (currently played in the West End by James Gillan, the munchkin who falls in love with “good witch” Glinda in the Wizard of Oz spin-off, but has not yet been successful. “So many people want to be in this show,” Gateley said.
