Pryce Leads Mamet’s Glengarry to West End in 2007???
Date: 5 December 2006
Jonathan Pryce is tipped to star in David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross in the West End in October 2007. According to Variety, the 1984 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama about competing real estate salesmen will be directed by James Macdonald, whose production of Caryl Churchill’s Drunk Enough to Say I Love You? is currently playing at the Royal Court. Double Tony Award-winner Pryce was last seen in the West End in Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?. His other recent London stage credits include A Reckoning and My Fair Lady. He starred on Broadway earlier this year in the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He has previously appeared in the 1992 film version of Glengarry Glen Ross, in which he played James Lingk. He is rumoured to be playing Shelly Levene in the new production, which will be brought to the West End by American producers Jerry Frankel, Jeffrey Richards and Jam Theatricals – the backers of the 2005 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival that starred Alan Alda as Shelly Levene – as well as the UK’s Ron Kastner and Mark Rubinstein.
