McKellen Lights up London for Christmas???

Ian McKellen will be switching on the Regent Street Christmas lights on Tuesday 7 November 2006 at 5.45pm outside the Aquascutum Store at 100 Regent Street, London W1. McKellen - whose pantomime debut as Widow Twankey in the Old Vic’s
Aladdin in 2004/5 was named Theatre Event of the Year in the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Awards (See
News, 31 Jan 2006) - will be joined by
Andy Serkis and
Shane Richie, his co-stars from computer-animated movie
Flushed Away, which opens in the UK on 1 December 2006. In the film, McKellen plays an evil toad who tries to kill a posh “society mouse” and a sewer rat who form an unlikely friendship under the streets of London.
