All Aboard Dirty Dancing Buses… Judi Too???Date: 25 October 2006 Who knew Judi Dench was a closet Dirty Dancing fan? Almost as surprising as seeing the great dame of British theatre at last night’s first night of the exuberantly cheesy screen-to-stage musical was seeing theatre’s leading knight, Sir Ian McKellen, there as well (See 1st Night Photos). But while McKellen happily shared his thoughts on what makes the show, and particularly its leading man Josef Brown, such a hit (See WOS TV), it was Dench who nearly caused a traffic accident on the night. When exiting the West End’s Aldwych Theatre, the actress managed to slip past most of the paparazzi, who didn’t notice as she joined other first-nighters on one of a fleet of double-decker buses heading for the party at the Banqueting House. Dench grabbed a seat on the lower deck and was busy powdering her nose when the photographers finally spotted her and besieged the vehicle in loud, window-pounding droves to the alarm of other passengers and passers-by.
