A Wicked Day Out for Emerald City Fans???Date: 20 October 2006Do you fancy yourself as the next Idina Menzel? Then get yourself down do Covent Garden’s Seven Dials on Sunday 29 October 2006 for London’s first official “Wicked Day”, in honour of the Broadway musical which had its West End premiere at the Apollo Victoria theatre last month (See 1st Night Photos, 28 Sep 2006). The main feature of the day is the ‘Be WICKED' Singing Contest. From 1.30pm, ten finalists will perform in front of an expert panel of judges, with the winner announced by 4.00pm. Wicked tells the “untold story” of the Witches of Oz - popular blonde Glinda (Helen Dallimore), the Good Witch of the North, and her spin-victim friend Elphaba (Menzel, reprising her Tony Award-winning Broadway role), the green-skinned Wicked Witch of the West – who were both immortalised in the 1939 film classic The Wizard of Oz. The show has a book by Winnie Holzman, based on Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Related Content |
