Connie Fisher in on the Joke at Spamalot???Date: 19 October 2006Now deep in rehearsals for The Sound of Music, How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? winner Connie Fisher had a night off to attend Tuesday’s opening (17 October 2006) of Monty Python’s Spamalot at the Palace Theatre. Confronted by the army of photographers on the red carpet outside, Fisher remained as cool as the many other, more seasoned stars attending, including Cilla Black, Cliff Richard, Stephen Fry, Richard E Grant, Eddie Izzard and Richard Griffiths (See 1st Night Photos, 18 Oct 2006). She seemed to weather the various Andrew Lloyd Webber jibes in the Monty Python show – not least the moment when Hannah Waddingham’s Lady of the Lake breaks into a “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?” warble – with good humour, too. Less amusingly, we hear that Fisher’s wallet was stolen on the night (possibly pinched when she stopped for interviews in the crush outside the theatre) and had to miss part of the show.
