Post-Bent, Kramer Finds NY Success with Woyzeck???
Date: 3 October 2006
Director
Daniel Kramer is a busy boy. As he readies his
Alan Cumming-headed revival of Martin Sherman’s
Bent for its West End opening at Trafalgar Studios this Thursday (See
News, 10 Aug 2006), preparations are also underway for the New York transfer of his Whatsonstage.com Award-nominated staging of Georg Buchner’s
Woyzeck, which he adapted and directed in 2004 at the Gate, where he’s now an associate director. The production will have a limited season from 13 November to 3 December 2006 at New York’s St Ann’s Warehouse, where
Edward Hogg will reprise his acclaimed performance as the disenfranchised soldier of the title, newly joined by
David Harewood as the Drum Major. Next up? In the new year, Kramer revives Tony Kushner’s two-part, 1980s AIDs epic
Angels in America for Headlong, formerly Oxford Stage Company (See
News, 29 Aug 2006).
