Spacey Waives £100k Director’s Salary???
Date: 26 September 2006
Speaking of
Kevin Spacey, he’s generated headlines himself this week following an interview in
The Economist, in which he admitted waiving his annual artistic director’s salary of £100,000 in order to help keep the Old Vic solvent. He’s actively trying to raise £25 million to refurbish the historic theatre, which receives no public subsidy. After the premature closure of Robert Altman’s production of Arthur Miller’s
Resurrection Blues and five months of darkness, which attracted heavy media criticism earlier this year (See
News, 13 Apr 2006), the Old Vic reopens tonight (26 September 2006) with
A Moon for the Misbegotten, in which Spacey stars alongside Olivier Award winner
Eve Best and
Colm Meaney.
