Simply Ballroom Minds the Gap at Drury Lane???Date: 7 September 2006Simply Ballroom, hosted by dancing legend Lionel Blair and featuring a cast of international dance champions, is tipped to fill part of the gap at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane between Mel Brooks’ multi award-winning musical comedy The Producers, which finishes its run on 6 January 2007, and The Lord of the Rings, which opens at the venue on 19 June 2007 (previews from 9 May, See News, 23 Jun 2006). The dance spectacular - presented by Qdos Entertainment and staged and directed by Alan Harding - has already booked a one-off date at Drury Lane on 29 October 2006, but could well return in the new year for a further three- to four-week engagement. Currently on a regional tour (See News, 9 Sep 2005), Simply Ballroom, is based on the popular BBC series Strictly Come Dancing and features guest stars including the series’ Erin Boag and Anton Du Beke.
