Producers Pick up on Finer Noble Gases???Date: 5 September 2006 And finally (for today at least) on the subject of Edinburgh transfers, another Fringe First winner, Finer Noble Gases by American Adam Rapp, receives a two-night only London showcase at the Bush Theatre this weekend, with the hope of attracting the interest of UK commercial producers. Charting one night in the lives of four self-destructive rock musicians and their paranoid neighbour, Finer Noble Gases cuts to the heart of modern America and concludes with a rock music gig by the actors who also form part of the real band, Less the Band. In addition to a Fringe First, the Edinburgh run earned a Best Actor win in the Stage awards for lead Paul Sparks’ performance as ageing stoner Chase (See News, 29 Aug 2006). Rapp is an Obie Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright whose only significant previous UK production, Blackbird, was also seen at the Bush, directed by artistic director Mike Bradwell. Finer Noble Gases is at the Bush this Friday and Saturday (8 and 9 September 2006), with twice-nightly performances at 7 and 9.30pm.
