Johansson Not Minded to Take on Maria Role???Date: 27 July 2006Way back in the days before How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, Hollywood starlet Scarlett Johansson was offered the role of Maria in The Sound of Music (See The Goss, 17 May 2005), and it has now been revealed why that didn’t come to pass. The 21-year-old star of Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring and other films was the first choice of Andrew Lloyd Webber, but according to a report in today’s Times, Lloyd Webber said “her people were not pro the idea”. After Johansson originally gave an eager yes, negotiations fell through due to the actress requiring two “minders” backstage at all times – demands her spokespeople say are perfectly normal for a star of her stature. Maria might be a super-nanny, but Hollywood stars need looking after, too. Related Content |
