Stritch Lined up for Noël Coward Compilation???Date: 26 July 2006Another American leading lady, octogenarian Broadway legend Elaine Stritch, could also be back treading the boards in the West End by the end of the year, also care of British producer Howard Panter from ATG. Variety reports that Panter is developing a new show featuring Stritch performing songs and other material by the late Noël Coward. Stritch and Coward first worked together in 1961 when the actress starred in a US production of his musical Sail Away. She last appeared in the West End in 2002 when she brought her Tony Award-winning one-woman show Elaine Stritch at Liberty to the Old Vic for a limited season. In that autobiographical piece, Stritch recounted personal experiences from her long career in a mix of anecdotes and live music, including a rendition of the song “Why Do the Wrong People Travel” from Sail Away.
