Donkeys’ Years Keeps on Kicking???Date: 18 July 2006Speaking of Donkeys' Years, we’ve heard from various sources that Jeremy Sams’ revival of Michael Frayn’s college reunion farce could well extend for a much longer West End season – though it would have to do so with a largely new cast. In addition to James Dreyfus, the stellar ensemble company includes Mark Addy, Samantha Bond, Michael Simkins and, perhaps most notably, David Haig, who has received rave reviews for his performance as an education minister caught up in an apparent sex scandal. In his column in the June issue of Theatregoer, Guardian critic Michael Billington hailed it as a “career-defining” turn that “elevates David Haig into the select band of classic farceurs”. Not an easy act to follow then! Recast extension or not, Donkeys' Years has proved one of the biggest hits of summer 2006. It’s currently booking until 2 September 2006 at the Comedy Theatre.
