Raine Rabbits on at Trafalgar Studios???

Date: 6 July 2006

Rabbit, director Nina Raine’s playwriting debut which had a star-studded fringe premiere at Islington’s Old Red Lion pub theatre in May (See News, 18 May 2006), is tipped to receive a West End run later this year. The piece takes a candid look at the uncivil war between the sexes and the difficult relationship that exists between a young woman and her dying father. At the Old Red Lion, the high-profile cast of regulars from the West End, the RSC and elsewhere included Charlotte Randle, Susannah Wise and Hilton McRae as well as Ruth Everett, Rocky Marshall and Adam James. No official details are confirmed for the play’s possible West End season, although it is mooted for Trafalgar Studios. Meanwhile, Raine has completed her second play, Tiger Country, a commission from Hampstead Theatre. Rabbit was shortlisted for the 2004 Verity Bargate Award.
