Who’ll Step in for Captain Von Trapp???Date: 3 July 2006A few weeks ago, we followed up a report in the Daily Mail about Anthony Head, who won this year’s Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor for Otherwise Engaged, being signed up to play Captain Von Trapp The Sound of Music, which opens this November at the West End’s London Palladium (See News, 9 Jun 2006). Sadly, that has not come to pass. We understand that, while Head was offered the role, in the end he declined. It’s a shame, as we would have liked to have seen him in the role. But the question now is: Who could fill the shoes of Christopher Plummer (who played the role on screen opposite Julie Andrews)?
