Three West End Houses Keen to Lambeth Walk???

Date: 23 May 2006

Producers of the newly-launched 70th anniversary tour of Me and My Girl (See Today’s News) are optimistic about the show’s potential for a West End run in 2007. The 1937 musical comedy sees cockney bloke Bill discover he’s heir to a fortune. But would he rather have a life of luxury than live happily ever after with his girl Sally? The new production - directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle (protégé of Susan Stroman) and designed by Walt Spangler – stars Richard Frame, Steps’ Faye Tozer, Trevor Bannister, Dillie Keane and Sylvester McCoy. It’s presented on tour by Alex Armitage for Noel Gay Productions and Edward Snape for Fiery Angel. Commenting on the possibility of a West End run at today’s London launch event, Armitage told Whatsonstage.com: “We have had three medium to large venues in the centre of the West End that have expressed an interest, so we are hoping that will happen in 2007. But if not, then at least the show will have had another outing, which it is well overdue.”
