Lion King Roars on after Technical Fault???Date: 27 April 2006 For the first time in The Lion King's six-and-a-half years since opening the West End, the Disney musical was forced to call off a performance due to technical problems. The incident occurred during last night’s performance at the Lyceum Theatre. A spokesperson for the show told Whatsonstage.com: “We did have a technical problem with one of the stage lifts last night, and despite our best efforts, we had to cancel the show just before the interval - the first time we have had to do so for technical reasons.” Customers are being given full refunds. The Lion King, based on Disney's 1994 animated feature film, is currently booking to 25 March 2007. It features 15 songs, including the five from the film. The stage score also comprises three new songs written by Elton John and Tim Rice, with additional numbers by South African-born Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Hans Zimmer and Julie Taymor. The book is by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi. The show will go on … as usual from tonight.
