Adams Gets the Blues & Flees Old Vic???
Date: 10 April 2006
If you want to see Robert Altman’s production of Arthur Miller’s
Resurrection Blues at the Old Vic, you’ve only got five days left to do so; if you want to see
Jane Adams in
Resurrection Blues at the Old Vic, you’ve already left it too late. The Tony Award-winning actress American, who made her West End debut with this production, left after last Wednesday’s matinee on 5 April 2006 and has not returned since. A spokesperson for the show confirmed Adams would not be returning to the role, and said no further comment could be made. In the play, Adams played a TV director hired to film the crucifixion of a rebel leader in a South American despot state.
Resurrection Blues closes this Saturday, a week earlier than originally scheduled (See
News, 5 Apr 2006). Meanwhile, the Old Vic has confirmed today that it will cease production for the next five months until Howard Davies’ planned revival of Eugene O’Neill’s
A Moon for the Misbegotten, starring artistic director
Kevin Spacey, in mid-September (See Today’s
News).
