David Bowie Kung-Fus Bruce Lee Musical???Date: 28 March 2006 Late Kung Fu icon Bruce Lee - who shot to fame in cult Seventies martial arts movie Enter the Dragon - is the unlikely subject of an upcoming musical. Matthew Warchus, currently in Toronto with The Lord of the Rings (See News, 15 Mar 2005), has been signed up to direct and has reportedly had talks with legendary rocker David Bowie about writing the music for the show – currently titled The Bruce Lee Musical: Journey to the West End. San Francisco-born Lee made several films in Hong Kong before hitting the big time with offers to star in Hollywood blockbusters. Sadly, a month before Enter the Dragon was released, he died at the age of 32 after suffering an allergic reaction to a prescription painkiller. The Bruce Lee bio-show isn’t the only martial arts musical reportedly in development. A musical version of the Oscar-winning 2000 movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is also in the pipeline (See The Goss, 13 Mar 2006).
