Michael Jackson Musical Is a Thriller???

Date: 7 March 2006

We've had compilation musicals based on the back catalogues of Abba, Queen, Madness, Rod Stewart and UB40, to name just a few - but Michael Jackson? Given the former child star's somewhat tarnished reputation, you'd think it was a risky bet at best. Nevertheless, one is indeed in the works, with a one-off West End try-out planned for this August. Thriller – The Musical will be showing on 27 August 2006 at the Dominion Theatre – current home of Queen musical We Will Rock You - taking fans “on a magical fictional journey through the utopian world of Neverland to the dark depths of Hollywood, as the earth and its inhabitants are slowly taken over by a group of demonic Zombies led by the evil Dom Sheldon and Dirty Diana… There is just one man good enough to heal the world… and that man is Michael Jackson.” Thriller – The Musical is based on a fictional story written by Adrian Grant, author of Michael Jackson – The Visual Documentary, and an associate of Michael Jackson for the past 18 years, and is described as “a stage and video spectacular celebrating the wonderful career of the world’s greatest entertainer”. Excuse the pun, but we can't resist - you just can’t “Beat It”, can you?
