Python’s Idle Opens Spam-tastic Bookings???Date: 20 February 2006Fans of Monty Python had better not be idle – even of one of their idols is! Monty Python creator, Eric Idle will be at the West End’s Palace Theatre tomorrow (Tuesday 21 February 2006) at 12 noon to launch the first day of ticket sales for Tony Award winning Broadway show Spamalot. The first 100 people who book tickets to see the madcap musical - "lovingly ripped-off" from the screenplay of the Pythons’ best-loved film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail - and present a copy of the Evening Standard or Standard Lite, will receive a limited edition Spamalot Goodie Bag filled with an exclusive range of shabby goods from China, Spam, and a polychromatic precision printed limited edition poster signed by Eric Idle - suitable for resale on ebay. In addition there will be freshly made scrumptious Spam sandwiches for all to enjoy. Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table in their quest to find the religious relic – The Holy Grail - and features a chorus line of dancing divas (with serfs), flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and a legless knight. The stage musical has a book and lyrics by Idle, who has also co-written the music with John Du Prez. The London production will reunite the Broadway creative team including set and costume designer Tim Hatley, lighting designer Hugh Vanstone, choreographer Casey Nicholaw and Mike Nichols, who won his eighth Tony Award for his direction of Spamalot (which also won last year’s Tony for Best Musical). The show is produced by Boyett Ostar Productions, the same company behind the Broadway presentation of The Woman in White. Tickets go on sale tomorrow for performances from 2 October 2006 through to 31 March 2007. Related Content |
