Thornhill & Owen-Jones on Board for Show Boat??? Date: 26 January 2006
Although casting has not yet been confirmed for Show Boat at the Royal Albert Hall, a couple of interesting musical theatre names have been connected with the show, including Rebecca Thornhill (Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago, The Witches of Eastwick) and John Owen-Jones (currently playing Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and previously London’s longest-serving Phantom). Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II’s classic Broadway musical will be staged at the Royal Albert Hall for a strictly limited season of 18 performances only from 10 to 25 June 2006, directed by triple Olivier Award-winning international opera and theatre director Francesca Zambello (See News, 6 Dec 2005). The new production of the 1927 Broadway classic marks the first ever fully-staged musical in the round at the Royal Albert Hall.
