Galloway Is Cat’s Whiskers in Barbican Dick???Date: 24 January 2006When George Galloway comes out of the Big Brother House, he may have even more reason than usual to act like the cat that got the cream. The Barbican Theatre’s casting department has confirmed rumours that the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow is in the running for the role of the Cat in Mark Ravenhill’s new version of panto classic Dick Whittington scheduled for next Christmas (See News, 9 Dec 2005). The Barbican approached Galloway’s representatives after witnessing his antics on Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother, in which he pretended to be a cat, lapping milk from the hands of fellow contestant Rula Lenska. A spokesperson for the Barbican told Whatsonstage.com: “Offers have been made to the agents of several people for the role, and George Galloway is one of them.” Related Content |
