Bad Girls Break out of Leeds???Date: 4 January 2006While it may be a few years later than planned, Bad Girls The Musical, based on the ITV drama series about the lives and loves of staff and inmates in a women’s prison, may at last receive its West End bow before the end of 2006. The show, written by the creators of the television series, receives its world premiere at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds in July (See Today’s News). If that six-week season goes well, it should be London-bound shortly thereafter. No casting has yet been announced for Leeds or beyond, although earlier gossip had it that stars of the screen version, including Jack Ellis (aka corrupt screw Jim Fenner), may appear. Given the good notices he received in the recent West End production of A Few Good Men, in which he played Col Nathan Jessep (immortalised in the Hollywood movie by Jack Nicholson) opposite Rob Lowe’s rookie lawyer, perhaps Ellis could be lured back onto the boards again.
