Ruffelle & Howar Cross Swords for Zorro???Date: 2 December 2005 We hear that Tony Award winner Frances Ruffelle (who created the role of Eponine in Les Miserables) and Tim Howar (On the Town, Peggy Sue Got Married) have been taking part in workshops for a new musical adaptation of Zorro. The story of the Mexican masked man has spawned myriad films, including 1998’s The Mask of Zorro and its recently released sequel The Legend of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones. Another stage musical version, care of British songwriting team George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Mary Poppins, Just So, Honk, Peter Pan), was previously scheduled to open back in 2003 (See The Goss, 13 Jun 2002), when Puerto Rican pop heartthrob Ricky Martin was tipped to star. Music for this latest Zorro is by The Gypsy Kings and John Cameron.
