End of the Rainbow for O’Connor in March???

Whatsonstage.com Award winner Caroline O'Connor may be back in the West End next year – possibly as early as March. She’s had a mega-hit down under with End of the Rainbow (See The Goss, 19 Jul 2005), which had its world premiere in July at Sydney Opera House, where it had a sell-out seven weeks, and is now doing big business in Melbourne. Set in London in 1969, End of the Rainbow is about the life of showbiz legend Judy Garland. And though it isn’t a musical, it is a play with music, which allows O’Connor to belt out some of the signature Garland tunes such as “You Made Me Love You”, “The Trolley Song”, “The Man That Got Away” and, of course, “Over the Rainbow”. O’Connor won a Theatregoers’ Choice Award for her last play in London, the solo Bombshells, and has just been nominated for her last musical, On the Town, which was at the London Coliseum this spring. End of the Rainbow is written by Peter Quilter, who’s currently represented in the West End by the Maureen Lipman-headed Glorious!, which has its own Theatregoers’ Choice Award nomination for Best New Comedy this year (click here to vote!).
