Vroom Vroom for Clarkson & Napier???Date: 20 October 2005 It’s not your usual theatrical fare, that’s for sure. Award-winning stage designer John Napier – whose many West End credits include Starlight Express Les Miserables and Cats - has traded the proscenium arch for some turbo-charged engines and an unusual collaborator, Jeremy Clarkson from TV’s Top Gear. Napier is designing MPH ’05 live motor show in which the Lotus Exige-driving Clarkson, with the help of state of the art pyrotechnics and advanced 3D animation, will be fired on by missiles from a helicopter gunship at Birmingham NEC and London’s Earl’s Court exhibition centres. The story follows an innocent family’s worst nightmare, as a Satellite Navigation system with a death wish leads them straight into the hands of psychotic anarchists in a bad part of town. There’s no way out - until the helmeted hero kickstarts a high-powered car chase and saves the day. The show runs from 10 to 13 November 2005, followed by an encore in London from 17 to 20 November.
