Jason Robert Brown Back at New Players???Date: 4 July 2005Speaking of cabarets, in December 2005 producer David Dolman is planning to bring Tony Award-winning American composer Jason Robert Brown back to the New Players Theatre, where he previously played four performances last September (See News, 29 Jul 2004). The new week-long engagement will give audiences a taste of Brown’s new album, Wearing Someone Else’s Clothes. Brown’s musicals include Parade, The Last Five Years and Songs for a New World, as well his latest musical comedy Thirteen. Aside from Songs for a New World (which won a Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award after its 2001 premiere at the Bridewell Theatre) and one-off concert appearances, and in spite of a loyal local following, Brown’s work has had little exposure in the UK. That may change with more concerts and a planned production of The Last Five Years, which is now tipped for next year at the Menier Chocolate Factory (See The Goss, 29 Jul 2004). Related Content |
