Spamalot Set for 2006 London Transfer???Date: 6 June 2005While Spamalot only managed to convert three of its 14 Tony Award nominations (See Today’s News), there’s plenty of consolation. First and foremost is the fact that one of its three wins at last night’s awards ceremony in New York was for the grand prize, Best Musical. Second, or perhaps first for British Monty Python fans, is that plans are apparently now well underway to bring the show to London (See The Goss, 22 Mar 2005). Director Mike Nicholls told American magazine Playbill that, though no exact dates have yet been set, the transatlantic transfer will take place next year when a US national tour will also be launched. Further ahead, there’s talk of a film version. Of course, the stage show by Python Eric Idle is itself based on a film, the 1975 classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Related Content |
