Joseph Fiennes Stages Epitaph in London??? Date: 18 May 2005
Joseph Fiennes, brother of Ralph, may be returning to the London stage later this year to star alongside Pam Ferris in a new production of Epitaph for George Dillon, which John Osborne co-wrote with Anthony Creighton. The play, about an artist who becomes involved with a banal suburban family, was first produced in 1957 in the wake of Osborne’s landmark success with Look Back in Anger the year before. Fiennes, well known internationally for his screen successes in the likes of Shakespeare in Love and Elizabeth, was last seen on the London stage two years ago in Trevor Nunn’s farewell National Theatre production of Love’s Labour’s Lost. His other theatre credits have included Real Classy Affair, Edward II and A Month in the Country. Ferris was nominated for last year’s Evening Standard Best Actress award for Notes Falling on Leaves at the Royal Court. Her screen credits include The Darling Buds of May and Harry Potter. According to Variety, Epitaph for George Dillon will be directed by Peter Gill and is due to open in the West End in mid-October.
