The night before Whatsonstage.com’s Outing to Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party last Thursday, the man himself paid a visit to Lindsay Posner’s new revival starring Henry Goodman and Eileen Atkins. Inside sources tell us that Pinter declared it is the best production he’s ever seen of his first full-length play. Whatsonstage.com theatregoers, who mixed with members of the cast at a post-show reception, seemed similarly impressed although, some 47 years after the play was first staged, most were still uncertain exactly what it was all about.
