Witches Women Wanted for Wax???

Date: 6 January 2005

Can you bitch – sorry, that should be witch – it up as good as Ruby Wax? Producers of The Witches, the stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s much-loved children’s book, are looking for 12 London women to appear alongside the loud-mouthed American TV presenter during the show’s five weeks, from 3 March to 2 April 2005, at the West End’s Wyndham’s Theatre (See News, 21 Dec 2004). No previous stage experience is required but apparently successful applicants must possess “a sense of fun, a dislike of children and the ability to flare their nostrils - they need to sniff out the stink waves children give off: to these witches children smell like fresh dogs droppings”. Open auditions for the dirty dozen take place at the West End’s Duke of York’s Theatre at noon on Friday 14 January 2005. The Witches follows the adventures of a seven-year-old boy and his somewhat-magical grandmother who battle with real-life witches, led by the most powerful villainess of them all, the Grand High Witch, played by Wax for the London dates.
