White’s Martin Crewes Croons with Riding!??

Date: 4 January 2005

Further to our pre-Christmas tip-off (See The Goss, 24 Dec 2004), we can now confirm that The Woman in White’s leading man Martin Crewes will share the bill with fellow Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award nominee Joanna Riding in a special late night concert next month, which will launch the Delfont Room, at the West End’s Prince of Wales theatre, as a performance venue (See News, 23 Dec 2004). The show’s producer tells us that “Joanna and Martin have a very exciting chemistry” and promises that, with a combination of solos and duets, the pair will “take us on a journey through love lost and found, laughter and sadness with numbers which incorporate some contemporary American musical theatre and some familiar favourites”. The concert takes place on Wednesday 2 February 2005, after the evening performance of Mamma Mia! at the theatre. Doors open at 10.30pm, with the concert beginning at 11.00pm. In the Theatregoers’ Choice Awards, Crewes has been nominated for Best Actor in a Musical while, for her non-musical role in Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit, Riding is in the Best Actress running (click here to vote now).
