Ally’s Krakowski Plays Dolls with McGregor???

Date: 29 December 2004

While Will and Grace’s Megan Mullaly was previously tipped to make her West End debut playing long-suffering gambler’s girlfriend Miss Adelaide in Michael Grandage’s revival of Guys and Dolls (See The Goss, 1 Nov 2004), it looks like the part will now provide the debut vehicle for another American TV star, Jane Krakowski, best known as man-hungry secretary Elaine from Ally McBeal. Krakowski was due to make her West End debut back in 2002 with black comedy Fuddy Meers but had to pull out when she landed a starring role opposite Antonio Banderas in Broadway musical Nine. Krakowski has recently been spotted in London, lending support to her boyfriend Julian Ovenden, who’s been nominated for Best Actor in a Musical in Whatsonstage.com’s Theatregoers’ Choice Awards for Grandage’s revival of another Broadway musical, Grand Hotel, at the Donmar Warehouse (click here to vote now). So far confirmed for Guys and Dolls is Scottish screen star Ewan McGregor, who will play Sky Masterson in the musical, which starts performances at the Piccadilly Theatre in May 2005 (See News, 15 Dec 2004).
