RSC Brings Spanish Golden Age to Town???Date: 19 November 2004 It looks like the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Spanish Golden Age season may well make it to London after all (See The Goss, 15 Jul 2004). Although there’s still no room at the inn during the company’s 22-week schedule at the Albery Theatre – where Hamlet opens the London run for the Tragedies collective this week – another nearby West End theatre has been earmarked for the rarely performed pieces in the Laurence Boswell-curated season. Or at least three out of the four. Simon Usher’s pared-down production of Tamar's Revenge, which received a poor critical reception following its delayed press performance earlier this year (See The Goss, 6 May 2004), will most probably be left behind. The other plays - The Dog in the Manger, House of Desires and Pedro, The Great Pretender - are tipped for a limited eight to ten weeks from early January 2005.
