Kaye�s Far Pavilions Near Musical Premiere???

Although MM Kaye died this past January, at the ripe old age of 95, her passing hasn�t stopped preparations for the stage musical version of one of her best known historical novels. Published in 1978, The Far Pavilions is set in 19th-century colonial India and follows the forbidden romance between a British officer and an Indian princess whose marriage has already been arranged to a tyrannical ruler. In 1984, the story was made into a television mini-series � starring Ben Kingsley, Amy Irving and Christopher Lee � for the American cable channel HBO. The stage musical version has been in development for more than seven years. It features music by Philip Henderson and lyrics by Michael E Ward, who�s also co-producing. It�s currently slated for a West End opening in April 2005.
