Going, Going, Gone at New Ambassadors???Date: 1 September 2004Didn’t make it up to the Edinburgh Fringe this year? Not to worry, many of the biggest hits are continuing to make their way to London. Another that we hear could be receiving its West End premiere in the very near future is the Fringe First-winning Gone (See News, 20 Aug 2004). Written by Glyn Cannon (whose On Blindness was seen earlier this year at Soho Theatre), the play updates Sophocles’ Antigone for the age of spin, shock and awe. A grieving sister battles a security-obsessed society to bury her terrorist brother - but where does a political leader's loyalty lie when family is involved? In Edinburgh, it had a sell-out run at the Pleasance Courtyard. In London, it’s tipped for a limited season at the West End’s New Ambassadors, possibly as a filler between Guantanamo, which finishes this Saturday, and Sweeney Todd, which transfers from Trafalgar Studios on 13 October (See Today’s News).
