And while we�re naming festival highlights, Whatsonstage.com would like to put forward two more special mentions. First, When the Bulbul Stopped Singing, David Greig�s premiere adaptation of Raja Shehadeh�s memoir, directed by Philip Howard at the Traverse Theatre. How this extraordinarily insightful and never less than mesmerising one-man show about life in occupied Palestine has so far failed to win a Fringe First is a mystery. Thankfully, and quite rightly, Christopher Simon has been nominated for The Stage�s Best Actor award for his performance. Awards or no awards, this is a show that deserves a wider audience, and a London one. The Royal Court perhaps? Ian Rickson please take note!
