His Dark Materials Gets a Rewrite???Date: 10 August 2004The National’s stage version of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials returns to the NT Olivier this Christmas, but don’t be surprised if it’s not quite as you remember it the first time around (See News, 9 Jan 2004). We understand that Nicholas Wright’s two-part stage adaptation, directed by NT artistic director, is undergoing some substantial rewrites before its next performances, which will run in rep with each other from 20 December 2004 to 2 April 2005. One constant, however, may be Anna Maxwell Martin, who's in talks to reprise her role as Lyra. Before that, she’ll star this autumn in the premiere of Joe Penhall’s Dumb Show at the Royal Court (See News, 13 Jul 2004). No official Pullman casting has yet been announced. Related Content |
