Hornby’s High Fidelity Hits the Stage???Date: 2 August 2004Another one for the growing list of screen-to-stage adaptations: High Fidelity. Stephen Frears’ hit 2000 film based on Nick Hornby’s novel, in which a man catalogues his relationship failures in the same way as his record collection, transplanted the story from London to Chicago. According to Variety, the stage musical will see it move again, this time to New York City, where it’s expected to premiere in 2006. The producers of Tony Award winner Avenue Q have acquired the rights and are developing the show with David Lindsay-Abaire (book), Tom Kitt (music) and Amanda Green (lyrics). If a West End transfer ever becomes an option for High Fidelity, perhaps the story can be transplanted back to London once again? Related Content |
