RSC Stage Tragedies at the Albery???
Date: 5 July 2004

We should soon – at last - be hearing about the Royal Shakespeare Company’s London intentions, at least for the short-term. The absence of a base in the capital since then artistic director Adrian Noble withdrew from the Barbican in May 2002 has caused Noble’s successor Michael Boyd no end of grief. Boyd was due to announce an interim London home this past January, but in April (See The Goss, 21 Apr 2004), the deadline was postponed to this month. We can now confirm that the long-awaited press conference will take place in London on 15 July 2004. Contrary to earlier predictions of the Piccadilly Theatre (where Jailhouse Rock is now booking up to April 2005), it looks likely that the RSC will make its West End home at the Albery, at least for its clutch of this year’s Tragedies from the Stratford repertoire.
